Eat tree nuts to cut heart disease risk

Latest News :- Chomping on nuts leads to higher levels of good cholesterol (Hdl, high-density lipoprotein) and lower levels of C-reactive protein, which can trigger chronic diseases including heart disease, said a new study.

"One of the more interesting findings was the fact that tree nut consumers had lower body weight, as well as lower body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference compared to non consumers," said Carol O'Neil, professor at Louisiana State University Agricultural Centre, who led the study.

Soy Protein Improves Cholesterol Health

Latest news from London: A new study has revealed that supplements of soy protein are much better than milk protein in terms of improving blood levels of HDL (good) cholesterol and thus the overall lipid profile in healthy individuals.

The study, which has been published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition, investigated the effect of soy and milk protein supplementation on lipids compared with carbohydrate among healthy adults.

Beauty Tips:- Beauty experts have warned that bags under the eyes are the price women pay for the dismal days of winter, making them look up to five years older.

The eyes of 5,000 women aged between 27 and 60 were studied throughout the seasons by scientists, who found winter aged women's looks by an average four years and eight months.

A lack of sunlight means paler skin, emphasising bags under the eyes and the problem is made worse by a higher level of fatigue in the winter due to a lower amount of Vitamin D, generated by the body in sunlight, and subsequently less serotonin, the body's "feel good chemical".

The results are almost as bad for men, said the study, carried out at AMA Laboratories in New York for Adonia Organics. It found 82 percent of women suffered from dark circles and puffy eyes in the winter as opposed to just 38 percent in the summer...Click Here For Read more

Fashion and celebrities :- With the opening of the ABIL Pune fashion week on Wednesday, models will unveil new fashion trends and innovative designs created by talented fashion designers of the country.

An initiative by the top fashionistas of the fashion industry, the week hopes to encourage creative talent in the field. Many young designers have been mentored by designer Vikram Phadnis for the show.
“It’s always a pleasure encouraging and guiding young talent to get a foothold in the industry,” said Phadnis. He added that there is a lot of talent in this industry.

Women Tips:- The availability of an enzyme, known as the Lon protease, that protects cells from oxidative damage, declines as the body ages, a new study has found. The finding may help explain why humans lose energy with age and could point medicine toward new diets or pharmaceuticals to slow the aging process.

Tips for Women:- he researchers showed that when oxidative agents attack the power centers of young cells, the cells respond by calling up reinforcements of the enzyme, which breaks up and removes damaged proteins. As the cells age, they lose the ability to mobilize large numbers of Lon, the researchers reported.
Lon protects the mitochondria - tiny organisms in the cell that convert oxygen into energy. The conversion is never perfect: Some oxygen leaks and combines with other elements to create damaging oxidants. Oxidation is the process behind rust and food spoilage.
